One of the biggest changes about living in an apartment rather than the dorms this year is cooking meals for myself.  It takes a lot more time and dishes than you’d think to whip up a simple meal.  One of my friends confided in me yesterday, “All I’ve eaten since I moved into my apartment is PB&J, cereal, Hot Pockets, and Bagel Bites”.
Delicious? Absolutely. Nutritious? Absolutely not.
It does take a little extra effort to make sure you’ve got a balanced meal, but the result is well worth it.  Here are a few tips I’ve found to save time and have fun when you’re cooking your own meals:
Cook twice as much as you can eat. Leftovers are a lifesaver for those days when you’ve got a lot on your figurative plate and not enough on your literal one.
Get together with some friends. Making a dinner date to cook [...]

Rockstar Games the company which make the highly popular Grand Theft Auto announced that it has sold over 10 million copies of GTA IV. That cashes in at around 600 million dollars for the company and the year isnt even over. The holiday season is sure to push the GTA into another stratosphere of game sales. The highest selling movie this year is Batman The Dark Knight has only brought in about 512 million dollars in revenue but is still rising. I guess in record sell terms GTA IV has went diamond…

After looking at quite a few board games, I have come to the conclusion that most of the really good ones take a whole afternoon/night to play. (Arkham Horror and Descent being the most played).  But what if one finishes early?  One can’t simply start another loong game and hope it finishes within an hour.  This is when the short and sweet games (Carcassonne and Ingenious) really shines.  But as always, I am greedy.  I want more short and sweets, table top games that are finished in around 30-45 minutes.  So down to the local gaming store I went and picked up another Reiner Knizia card game of goodness:

That german knows how to make games.  After playing it once, the mechanics where screaming “elegance” at me.  When I first saw the game, I thought it was yet another spin off of magic the gathering where playerse summon monsters and smack [...]

Chargers defensive superstar Shawne Merriman played as well as he could on Sunday against the Panthers.  Unfortunately, that just wasn’t good enough.  It was announced today that Merriman has decided to pursue surgical reconstruction of his left knee, ending his 2008 season.
Merriman had no sacks on Sunday and just one solo tackle, leading to much speculation that he was ineffective.  Truth be told, the ball was seldom run anywhere near him, and he had Panthers QB Jake Delhomme just out of reach for most of the game.  On the Panthers final drive Merriman was credited with three QB hurries- typically a sign that Delhomme was pushed into making bad throws, although we know how that ended for the Chargers.
Most importantly, Merriman maintained his role as unquestioned leader of the defense.  It’s that leadership that a regressing defense needs to pull itself together, and that will be missed most of all.
It’s [...]

“iTunes 8″ just sounds cool. A brand new iTunes is greatly appreciated. But, is designating it with the number “8″ really necessary, why not 7.8 or 7.9?

In short, this is a whole new iTunes with the same old feel, kind of. Nothing that I have become so used to is gone, it’s just startling to see the new features thrust at you as soon as you start it up. With a stunning new visualizer, Genius playlist creation, and browsing updates… Apple gives iTunes a much need face lift.
New View Options
The Good
The first thing you notice when you start up iTunes 8 is the new view option. I’m not sure what it’s called, but all your album’s are organized in like your iPhoto photos.
The new view sorted by Album
by Genre
It could be really appealing to those who appreciate the visual sense it adds to your music experience. You can also sort [...]

Last night I attended a presentation at the Town Hall by Peel Holdings for their Wirral Waters vision.  This enormous project will completely regenerate the Birkenhead waterfront, Vittoria Dock, East Float and Bidston Moss.  The plan is very futuristic but works on a similar idea to Salford Quays in Manchester where living, working and leisure time is all on the waterside.  If you want to know a bit more, check out the website www.peelwaters.co.uk/wirralwaters.html

Poor Katie.  I was so excited to see her that I hardly noticed that she looked like she had been hit by a bus (with her mangled body then defiled by a hobo).  Her plane from New York had been delayed a few hours and from the looks of it (left over makeup, matted hair, and glazy expression) she was running on little sleep and a tremendous hangover.

Katie Hull and I have been best friends since the fourth grade.  We had been maintaining a long-distance relationship since I moved from Tampa in seventh grade.  We had our minds set on going to the same college.  But, as fate would have it, she ended up at NYU and me, at Richmond.

I had been at Richmond for three months. So, on our drive to campus from the airport I caught her up on my life at Richmond.  In a nutshell: [...]
